Front aerial picture Algoma NiagaraToday we had the privilege of being hired by Algoma Central Corporation for drone services to take aerial footage of the maiden voyage of the brand new Algoma Niagara.

We arrived at the shooting point, at the end of the Hamilton side of the Burlington Canal, and waiting for her arrival. We started setting up at about 12:30pm and the Niagara arrived approximately 2 hours after that. It was a long wait but it was worth it.

There was also a decent crowed waiting for her arrival with us. There were quite a few people with cameras and some even brought their dogs.

The Algoma Niagara is a 740-foot self-unloader bulk carrier ship that will be transporting grain and iron ore. It took to the Great Lakes today November 8, 2017. Whoever was there at the Pier awaiting her arrival were treated to an incredible site as it motored past us.

You can watch the video below for an aerial shot of the ship just before approaching the Burlington Canal.

If you’re a marine or ship enthusiast and would like to read specs and technical details about the ship, you can follow this link.

This was a super exiting job which proves drone services can be utilized in any industry. We’ll be updating this page once we’re notified as to howhow Algoma Central Corp. choose to use the footage we provided them.
